Training and Placement Policies

Objective

  • To provide guidance, support, and training to students for securing internships, pre-placement offers (PPOs), and full-time employment opportunities.

  • To collaborate with industry partners to ensure that students receive relevant training and are prepared for the challenges of the professional world.

  • To foster relationships with reputed companies for on-campus recruitment.

Scope

  • The policy applies to all undergraduate and postgraduate students of the college.
  • The policy covers training, skill development, placement assistance, and career counseling.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Training and Placement Cell (T&P Cell): The T&P Cell is responsible for organizing training sessions, pre-placement talks, mock interviews, and facilitating company visits for recruitment drives. They also maintain the database of companies and coordinate all placement activities.
  • Faculty Members: Faculty members are encouraged to collaborate with industry partners and provide domain-specific training. They should mentor students and ensure academic excellence, which indirectly supports placement success.

  • Students: Students are expected to maintain a professional attitude, actively participate in training programs, and take responsibility for their career development.

Pre-placement Activities

  • Skill Development Training: Training in areas such as communication skills, aptitude, technical skills, programming languages, and soft skills is provided throughout the academic year.
  • Mock Interviews and Group Discussions: Mock interviews, group discussions, and aptitude tests are conducted to familiarize students with the selection process used by most companies.

  • Resume Building and Career Counseling: Students receive guidance on creating professional resumes and are provided with one-on-one counseling to help define career goals.

Eligibility Criteria for Placement

  • Academic Performance: Students must meet a minimum CGPA or percentage requirement as specified by the T&P Cell. (This could vary for different companies).
  • Attendance: Students must maintain a minimum attendance percentage as per the college rules, as regular attendance in training sessions and academic classes is mandatory.

  • Disciplinary Record: Students must not have any ongoing disciplinary issues or cases. Any student involved in misconduct may be debarred from placement activities.

Placement Process

  • Company Registration: Companies are required to register with the T&P Cell before participating in campus recruitment drives. The company details and the available positions are shared with students.
  • Pre-Placement Talks (PPTs): Companies are encouraged to conduct Pre-Placement Talks to introduce themselves to the students, share job profiles, and explain the hiring process.

  • Placement Tests and Interviews: Companies may conduct online/offline tests, written assessments, group discussions, and interviews to assess candidates.

  • Offer Letter: Once the selection process is completed, the selected candidates will be issued offer letters, detailing the terms and conditions of the employment.

Internship and Industrial Training

  • Internship Opportunities: The college encourages students to take up internships in reputed organizations to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Industrial Training: Students must complete compulsory industrial training, either as part of their curriculum or during vacations, to gain exposure to industry practices and enhance employability.

Post-Placement Activities

  • Post-Offer Counseling: After receiving offers, students can seek career counseling regarding job responsibilities, company culture, and work-life balance.
  • Alumni Network: The college fosters a strong alumni network that aids in post-placement support, providing guidance to students transitioning from academics to professional life.

Companies Visiting the Campus

  • Reputed Companies: The college actively works to bring reputed national and international companies to the campus for recruitment drives.
  • Multiple Rounds: Some companies may have multiple rounds of selection, including technical rounds, HR rounds, and final interviews.

Code of Conduct for Placement Activities

  • Professional Conduct: Students must adhere to professional behavior, maintain punctuality, and dress appropriately during placement-related activities.
  • Confidentiality: Students are expected to maintain confidentiality regarding the recruitment process and not share any internal information about companies.

Placement Fees

  • No Direct Fees for Students: Typically, there are no direct fees charged to students for placement activities, but there might be nominal charges for workshops, training programs, or special services.
  • Company Charges: The policy should clearly mention if there are any placement-related charges for companies or any other third-party services.

Dispute Resolution

  • Grievance Redressal: In case of any disputes regarding the placement process, students are encouraged to approach the T&P Cell. The T&P Cell will resolve any issues fairly, and any decisions taken will be final.

Post-Placement Support

  • Alumni Mentorship: The alumni may offer mentorship and career guidance to new graduates, helping them transition into their professional lives.
  • Job Change and Career Growth: The college may also support students after placement by helping them with job changes, higher studies, or other professional development opportunities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Feedback Mechanism: After every placement drive, feedback from students, faculty, and companies will be collected to improve future placement activities.
  • Industry Collaborations: The college actively seeks feedback from industries to ensure that the curriculum and training programs are aligned with the current job market demands.

Placement

i. Final year students in the Institute who are seeking employment should register for campus placement process by filling all the academic and personal details in the Google Form shared to you by the T&P Cell.

ii. Only registered students will be allowed to appear in that particular campus drive.

iii. Students are advised to read the announcements made through notices put up on Notice boards, WhatsApp Groups, College Website, go through the company website & Job Profile etc.

iv. Students shall prepare their Resume under the supervision of the T&P Department, highlighting their achievements, summer projects and anything beyond the curriculum which enhances the employability of the students.

v. Students need to submit the soft copy of Passport size photographs while filling the google Form. The photo should be in College uniform, with tie, Blazer. (Boys should ensure they have proper haircut.)

vi. Students who attend the pre-placement session conducted by T&P Cell/Company only will be permitted to attend the campus drive for which they have registered.

vii. Students are advised to be dressed in Formals for every Recruitment Drive. All the Students (Boys and Girls) must wear Formals with their shirts neatly tucked in, tie and black leather shoes.

viii. Students must bring the college identity cards with them whenever they go through a placement process in campus or off campus.

ix. A student who applies and gets shortlisted is bound to go through the entire selection process unless rejected midway by the company. Any student who withdraws deliberately in the midst of a selection process will be disallowed from placement for the rest of the Academic year.

x. Report on time during the Placement Process.

xi. The responsibility of going through the offer letter and taking further actions such as signing and accepting and sending it back to the Company lies entirely on the student. In case offers are received directly by the student from the company, the copy of the same must be submitted to the Placement Office.

Once received an offer, he/she can again appear for the company offering at least 1.5 times of the current offer.

This policy ensures that students are well-prepared and have ample opportunities to secure employment before they graduate. It also emphasizes the importance of academic excellence, skill development, and professionalism throughout the training and placement process.
